Liverpool’s Sadio Mané has visited Man City goalkeeper Ederson’s head in hospital after kicking it straight off his shoulders when the two sides met on Saturday.
City were 1-0 up when Mané mistook Ederson’s head for the ball and wellied it right off his neck and into a bed at the nearby Royal Infirmary.
They went on to win 5-0 after the red card was shown, but Mané showed sportsmanship by going to apologise to Ederson’s detached head in person.
The tattooed portion of Ederson’s body was treated separately and is believed to be recovering well.
Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Mané paid tribute to the head of his victim.
He said: “I’ve just been to see his head in hospital and we had a good laugh about the whole thing.
“He’s a great head and I feel awful about kicking it off, but these things happen in football.
“If I hadn’t have gone for that ball, Jürgen Klopp would have kicked my head off.”
