José Mourinho has sparked a backlash from his Man Utd squad after demoting the team bus to the role of training ground portaloo.
The Special One was incensed when the bus arrived late for kick-off at Stamford Bridge, allowing his former club Chelsea to take the lead within thirty seconds.
United eventually succumbed to a humiliating 4-0 defeat, but worse was to follow as tempers flared in the tunnel.
Mourinho is reported to have openly castigated the bus, denouncing it as “fit for human waste, nothing more”.
This was poorly received by United’s playing staff, amongst whom the bus has become a popular figure.
A source said: “The players love that bus.
“It drives them around, they play Xbox and listen to Justin Bieber playlists on it, and it really dug in for them at Anfield on Monday night.
“They’re not at all pleased with their manager’s plans to have it converted into a loo, and they’ve not shied away from letting him know it.
“José risks losing the dressing room here, just like he did at Chelsea when he kicked Eva Carneiro off the physio team and made her keep watch on a bee in a jar in a basement somewhere.
“He told her it was important the bee didn’t escape, but it really wasn’t.”
