Four Germans including Leroy Sané were axed from their World Cup squad as Raheem Sterling revealed a controversial gun tattoo on his leg.

In a flurry of axeings that’s been linked to Sterling’s insensitive ink job, Sané was cut from Germany’s preliminary roster along with Bernd Leno, Jonathan Tah and Nils Petersen.

Sterling came in for further criticism as it emerged he responded to news of his Manchester City team-mate’s misfortune by callously tucking into breakfast.

Senior MPs are now calling for a national referendum on whether Sterling should be dropped from England’s World Cup squad and possibly even deported.
