England have officially kick-started their World Cup 2018 preparations with a Harry Kane injury.
As per tradition, the Three Lions’ star striker limped out of a club fixture just a few months before the tournament, initiating the customary ‘race against time’ to get him fit.
Come June a half-fit Kane will be expected to spearhead an underperforming side before snarling expletives into a camera on his way off the pitch following a goalless draw with Panama.
Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, England manager Gareth Southgate admitted he could scarcely contain his excitement.
He said: “I can scarcely contain my excitement.
“When news of the Harry Kane injury filtered through, we all came down with a serious dose of World Cup fever, let me tell you.
“When you’re managing England and your centre forward gets injured in March of a World Cup year – I mean, that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?”
He added: “Anyone know if Glenn Murray uses WhatsApp?”
