Radamel Falcao could be sacked by Monaco after appearing to eat a pie while lobbing Willy Caballero during the 5-3 defeat at Man City.

The Colombian striker brought last night’s Champions League last 16 first leg into disrepute when he devoured the savoury snack in what could be some kind of contravention of betting regulations.

Although it is not yet clear whether any punters had backed Falcao to eat a pie while scoring with a delightful chip, it is believed that someone must have.

Having struggled to recapture his best form during spells at Man Utd and Chelsea, Falcao has been in sensational form for Monaco this season.

He has scored 24 goals in 29 appearances, but until last night he had been yet to score while eating a pie.

Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Falcao denied trying to influence the outcome of any wacky bets.

He said: “I just fancied a pie at that particular moment.

“That’s one explanation. The other is that it was a lighthearted reference to Diego Costa calling me a ‘fat Michael Jackson’ that one time.

“I can’t really moonwalk, so I had to just go with the pie.”

He added: “Slow news day, is it?”
