The shimmering visage of David Moyes appeared approvingly in the clouds above Old Trafford as goals from Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini secured a 2-0 win for Man Utd against Hull.
In the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final, José Mourinho’s Red Devils huffed and puffed before making the breakthrough thanks to strikes from Moyes’s only two signings during his brief stint at Old Trafford.
According to gobsmacked eyewitnesses, this set the scene for a celestial vision that’s already being compared to that bit in The Lion King where Mufasa gives his son guidance from on high.
However, the Moyes clouds were quickly dispersed when a hired plane trailing a ‘Moyes out’ banner darted straight through the middle of them.
Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Moyes threatened to one day return amidst even thicker plumes.
He said: “Middlesbrough’s not far from Sunderland, I can always nip over and fill some old jam jars up with smog.
“You can get hardened to it, but if that plane’s never been in the region it will most likely burn up on entry.”
