England fans are still in the denial stage of their reaction to the Phil Jones injury that saw him withdraw from the latest England squad.

The Manchester United defender picked up a knock in training and will miss tomorrow’s friendly against Germany and Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Lithuania.

But try telling that to England supporters, who are still refusing to acknowledge the devastating news of Jones’s absence.

Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, some expert or other warned on what to expect next.

They said: “Well, next up you’ll have your anger, so it might be best to keep any pets you’ve got locked safely away for now.

“Then you’ve got your bargaining – “please God, injure me instead, anyone but Phil Jones” – that sort of thing.

“After that you’ll probably fall into a deep depression that certainly won’t be helped along any by actually watching England play.

“Eventually you’ll accept it, although a small part of you probably never will.”
