Labour Party pin-up Ed Miliband has been unveiled as Oldham Athletic manager in what is already being described as “a shock twist”.
The much-maligned current Leader of the Opposition, stop-motion animated, weighed in with his two cents on the Ched Evans debate in the mistaken belief that Oldham wouldn’t then turn around and say “why don’t you just manage us already, seeing as you’ve got so much to say?”, which Burp is led to believe they did.
After consulting the PR team that has of course been serving him so well of late, Miliband decided to double-bluff the arse off the Latics by accepting their job offer.
Then-present incumbent Lee Johnson was handed his immediate notice as Miliband penned a deal that’s set to keep him in the Boundary Park hot seat until the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Oldham chairman Simon Corney revealed that Miliband’s position would be reviewed in the summer.
He said: “It depends of course on how the General Elections go for him, but let’s just say we’re confident of keeping him.
“Rarely do we see someone of such eminence take on the role of Oldham Athletic manager – probably not since Paul Dickov, off the top of my head – so of course I’m delighted, albeit privately willing him to fail.
“No one tells me what to do, even if you are whoever he is. Unless he gets us promoted.”
