A Christian Eriksen hat-trick against Republic of Ireland has activated an exciting new feature in which Nicklas Bendtner appears and scores a penalty.

The Tottenham Hotspur ace’s playoff treble booked Denmark’s place at next summer’s World Cup and unlocked an outrageous new mode in the official real life Fifa 2017-18 season.

Bendtner’s penalty sparked accusations that the Danes were “rubbing it in” but Fifa have since claimed the phenomenon.

A spokesperson said: “No, that was us.

“Lord Bendtner suddenly appearing and scoring a penalty is just one of the many compelling new features we’ve installed for this latest campaign.

“We’re working on ironing out the bugs like Chelsea’s defending against Roma and Oumar Niasse scoring with his arse.”
