Chelsea have won the Premier League following a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge last night, it has been confirmed.
The newly crowned champions, apparently, are the second team to go through an entire Premier League season undefeated after Arsenal achieved the feat in 2003-04.
José Mourinho’s Blues are also the first side to win the Premier League at the beginning of December, a state of pre-Christmas-ness that has prompted widespread doubt as to the legitimacy of their title success.
Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, someone or other asserted that Chelsea have the Premier League “wrapped up” before immediately discrediting himself in his own print.
He said: “Just hand them the trophy now – it’s over, nothing to see here.
“Having said that, Manchester City are starting to look a bit tasty. They won 4-1 at Sunderland just days after Chelsea drew 0-0 there.
“They’ve got more points than they had at the same stage last season when they ended up champions, while Sergio Agüero is looking like the best player in the country on current form.
“Come to think of it, City are absolutely nailed on for the title. Just hand them the trophy now – it’s over, nothing to see here.
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get to a bookies really quite quickly.”
