You may by now have seen this bats**t crazy attack on Steaua Bucharest defender George Galamaz by a Romanian football fan, who pleasingly got a ruddy good kicking from Galamaz’s teammates for his troubles…
…and this of course set Football Burp’s memory in motion, as is customary on these loosely definable occasions. As such, here are ten more notable player-supporter ‘clashes’ from recent years…

1. Zrinjski score in extra time against local rivals Velez in the Bosnian Cup, have to leg it from nutjob opposition fans… (September 2011)
2. Trouble flares at relegated West Ham United’s end-of-season bash at London’s Grosvenor House hotel, supposed ‘witness’ reported as saying: ‘There were a couple of supporters who were asking Demba Ba for his autograph. But he turned round and said he was too tired. The fans said they were season-ticket holders and didn’t deserve to be spoken to like that. Then it all kicked off.’ Cue fantastically deadpan Sky Sports News reports that someone had kicked over a vase. Actual witness accounts weren’t anywhere near as entertaining as that, so here’s a video of the world’s cockniest Hammers fan making a minor YouTube sensation out of himself… (May 2011)
3. Chelsea fan shouts criticism at Didier Drogba for messing up a cross in the closing stages of a 1-1 draw at Stoke City, gets confronted and very conceivably shuts his mouth out of whatever wisdom he may have… (April 2011)
4. Stevenage fan Rob Fitzgerald runs on pitch after his side’s momentous 2-1 FA Cup win over Premier League Newcastle United, punches Stevenage defender Scott Laird (allegedly defending the honour of his girlfriend, who claimed she used to date Laird), faces ten-year ban from football grounds… (January 2011)
5. York City earn shock win at Luton Town in semi-final second leg of Blue Square Premier playoffs, forced to take “evasive action” from pathetically rioting home fans… (May 2010)
6. Fan runs on pitch after a late Craig Bellamy equaliser for Manchester City against Manchester United, gets restrained by stewards and, apparently gratuitously, slapped by Bellamy… (September 2009)
7. David Beckham has to be held back from trying to jump a barrier to confront an LA Galaxy supporter who was criticising him for having gone on loan to AC Milan during the close season, clashes with another fan just one week later after being subjected to “disgraceful” comments about his wife Victoria… (July 2009)
He then confronted another fan in September 2010 over allegations that he slept with a prostitute…
8. Celtic fan runs on pitch near the end of his team’s 2-1 Champions League win over AC Milan, sort of pats the shoulder of Milan goalkeeper Dida, who turns to pursue him before either collapsing with a completely incidental stomach ache or realising that he might be able to wrangle a replay… (October 2007)
9. Everton supporter Stephen Price runs on pitch to remonstrate with underperforming Ghanaian midfielder Alex Nyarko during 4-1 defeat at Arsenal, offers to swap shirts and play in his place, Nyarko signals to touchline to be substituted and announces retirement after the game before resurfacing at Goodison a couple of years later… (April 2001)
10. Perhaps the classic of the genre, Manchester United legend Eric Cantona gets sent off during a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace and stops on the way off the pitch to kung fu kick a home fan, apparently for calling him a French so-and-so or something like that…
