Lescott enraged Villa fans by describing relegation to the Championship as “a weight off the shoulders” in his post-match interview following the 1-0 defeat at Man Utd.
When Collymore very publicly criticised these comments, Lescott messaged him on Instagram suggesting that they meet up in person to “sort this out as men”.
Collymore then posted the exchange on Twitter, joking that he’d done so accidentally while his phone was in his pocket – a reference to Lescott posting a picture on an expensive car just after Villa lost 0-6 at home to Liverpool.
