Mauricio Pellegrino was sacked from his position as Southampton manager on Monday, leaving the team just one point above the relegation zone with eight Premier League games remaining.
After spending less than a year at the club, the 46-year-old Argentinian was removed following a disastrous 3-0 defeat at Newcastle United on Saturday despite still being in with a chance of winning the FA Cup.

No surprise Mauricio Pellegrino has lost his job seeing as he was only chosen because he's the non-union Argentine equivalent of Manuel Pellegrini pic.twitter.com/VcL2G3QxnQ

It's taken Mauricio Pellegrino being fired for me to realize he's not the same bloke who managed Manchester City.

Farewell Mauricio Pellegrino. You didn't win many games. But you might have won a dull-off with Manuel Pellegrini.

Think the most memorable thing about Mauricio Pellegrino's reign at Southampton is the time when I realised they hired someone who's name was basically what'd happen if Mauricio Pochettino and Manuel Pellegrini had a child together

Mauricio Pellegrino was a made up person anyway.

Time to bring in Manuel Pelligrini and then when he's sacked, hire San Pellegrino and then after that you can get a Perigrin Falcon.

You could say Southampton are now Sans Pellegrino after the fizz went out of their season! pic.twitter.com/FkSGFCQYi1
