Newcastle fans were left disappointed after Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct bought ailing high-street chain House of Fraser, saving it from possible closure, because of what they feel is a lack of recent investment in the team.
The company announced the acquisition to the stock exchange on Friday, paying £90m in cash to the administrators.

Mike Ashley has bought House of Fraser for £90m. The department store will go straight into Rafa Benítez's Newcastle squad for tomorrows game against Spurs.

Mike Ashley's a smart man. Bought a £90m business and now Newcastle have 3000 extra employees at their disposal. There's bound to be atleast 20 of them who can ping a 40 yarder into the back of the net.

I'm convinced that Mike Ashley has an ongoing gentleman's bet with a mate that he can become the single most hated man in the North East…
