Danny Welbeck won and then proceeded to score a penalty for Arsenal as they hosted AC Milan in the second leg of their round of 16 Europa League tie on Thursday night.

Following a 0-2 win in Italy, Arsène Wenger’s side continued their improved form and completed the formalities with a further 3-1 victory at the Emirates to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.

With Arsenal already in front on aggregate, Welbeck appeared to collapse after a light touch from defender Ricardo Rodríguez with the ball heading out of play.

A penalty was awarded and the injury-prone striker fired in his first of two goals last night.

People actually think Welbeck is smart enough to dive

Sympathy for the linesman there, who presumably hasn't seen Welbeck play much and thinks to himself, hang on, he wouldn't just fall over his own legs there* for no reason

*he would

Welbeck should probably be arrested for that

Rodriguez is lucky it wasn’t a red. That sort of challenge on Welbeck could have him out for months. A player already ravaged by injuries. Hate when players do that.

Arsene Wenger asked if Welbeck dived: "I don't know, I didn't see."

To anyone who doesn’t watch Danny Welbeck regularly, I can understand why you’d think that was a dive but I can assure you that was quite simply just Danny Welbeck trying to shoot

so much admiration for the ingenious Danny Welbeck performing a dive so bad, it ends up tricking the official into believing that there's no way a human can flail in such a laughable way and there therefore had to be contact

86% of Danny Welbeck’s goals this season have been scored against AC Milan. Tyrant.
