Songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Draper is back with his anthemic new song “Break Over You”, a collaboration with Scottish synth-pop group Prides, so we caught up with him for a natter about his beloved Chelsea:
How did you come to support the Blues?
My dad is a Chelsea fan and got me into supporting them from a young age. I haven’t looked back since.
What are your thoughts on the season just gone?
Guus Hiddink certainly turned it around towards the end of this season after that bad start under Mourinho but I’m excited to see what Conte can do for us next season.
Which areas of the team/squad would you like to see strengthened?
I think we need a massive shake-up, the defence particularly – at least one new centre-half is a must! Would like to see John Stones or someone similar come in. A couple of new midfielders and a new striker wouldn’t be bad either. I think we’ll see a lot of changes in the summer.
Have you managed to get to Stamford Bridge much to watch them over the years?
Sadly not as much as I’d like to, given I’m more or less working on my music pretty much all the time at the moment! But I’m hoping to make it out to more games for the upcoming season after the summer.
Finally, if you had to select a five-a-side team out of all the players you’ve seen play for Chelsea in your time as a fan, who would you pick?
Čech, Terry, Lampard, Zola, Drogba.
