Recommended selections this week include players from Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.

1. Harry Kane, TOT (forward)

He just needs one goal at home to Southampton to beat Alan Shearer’s record of Premier League goals in a calendar year, but his hat-trick at Burnley suggests he could well score more.

2. Mohamed Salah/Philippe Coutinho/Roberto Firmino, LIV (midfielder/midfielder/forward)

All three have been in explosive form ahead of the home game against rock-bottom Swansea – but will any of them succumb to squad rotation with the dense Christmas fixture list in mind?

3. Eden Hazard, CHE (midfielder)

No goals in four games has been disastrous for anyone who moved heaven and earth to bring him into their team over the last few weeks, but a home game against Brighton is a great chance to get back on track.

4. Romelu Lukaku, MUN (forward)

Drew a blank at Leicester but you might fancy his chances of scoring at home to a Burnley side who were shot down by a Harry Kane hat-trick last time out.

5. A Man City player

So many good options and a good fixture in the form of their trip to Newcastle, but it’s hard to be sure who might start or not given Pep Guardiola’s propensity for rotation.
