Fantasy Premier League tips gameweek 1 defenders round-up

Strengthen your defence with this Fantasy Premier League tips Gameweek 1 defenders round-up and unlock your fantasy football potential.

Recommended selections this week include players from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton, Cardiff City, Crystal Palace, Manchester City and Manchester United.

🌟 Willy Boly WOL, £4.5m

Wolves had a strong defensive record in last year’s Championship and start this season with a reasonable-looking home game against Everton.

Boly looks the most nailed-on to start out of their current centre-backs, and he possesses an aerial threat that should get him goals at set pieces.

🌟 Séamus Coleman EVE, £5.5m

Contrary to the above, it’s by no means a given that Everton won’t roll over a newly promoted Wolves, and Coleman still offers attacking thrust.

Everton could also be in the clean sheets early on, given that three of their ensuing four fixtures are home games against Southampton, Huddersfield and West Ham.

🌟 Sean Morrison CAR, £5m

Scored seven goals for Cardiff in last season’s Championship, and their trip to Bournemouth looks like one of the more likely opening day upsets – and we usually get one or two.

🌟 Patrick van Aanholt CRY, £5.5m

Scored twice in a recent friendly, continuing the goal threat he showed at the end of last season, and he gets underway with a trip to newly promoted Fulham.

🌟 Stones/Kompany MCI, £5.5m each

If either John Stones or Vincent Kompany start the season they should offer excellent value for money given Man City’s favourable looking start, opening day trip to Arsenal notwithstanding.

🌟 Luke Shaw MUN, £5m

With Antonio Valencia’s injury and Ashley Young’s World Cup hangover, a full-back position might open up for Shaw to start the season at home to Leicester.
