Right, let’s do this thing…
Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 27: Midfielders
Liverpool welcome Swansea City to Anfield this weekend, and we fancy another demolition job could be on the cards for Brendan Rodgers’s in-form Reds.
Steven Gerrard is in sparkling form, weighing in with goals and assists in his role of set piece specialist, so we’ve just made the necessary alterations to our squad in order to accommodate his £9m self.
Raheem Sterling can still be had for just £5.6, which will look like one heck of a bargain if he replicates his two-goal display in the recent 5-1 win over Arsenal.
Keep an eye on £8.5m Coutinho – as things stand it’s worth paying a little extra to get Gerrard, but the Brazilian looks to be improving all the time.
There’s good value to be had in Arsenal’s midfield too – £6.2m Jack Wilshere has added goals to his game, £6.8m Mikel Arteta takes free kicks and penalties, while £6.7m Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has come into a nifty spell of goal-scoring form of his own.
The Gunners are at home to Sunderland this weekend, which might not be a walkover but certainly presents opportunities for any of the above – or the more expensive Mesut Özil and Santi Cazorla – to play the role of match-winner.
Fulham’s £4.8m Kieran Richardson and West Ham United’s £4.8m Mohamed Diamé each managed a goal and an assist last time out, so you might want to keep an eye on their progress.
Meanwhile, Southampton’s Adam Lallana continues to make a mockery of our suspicion that his form can’t last.
With five goals and five assists in his last ten games, we dare say it might be time to swallow our pride and pay the £8m it currently takes to bring him in.
