A dad tricked his son into supporting Arsenal by sending him a fake letter purporting to be from manager Arsène Wenger and midfielder star Alexis Sánchez.

Paul Gardiner, a DJ from Kent, was worried when six-year-old son Charlie mentioned he may prefer to support Liverpool or Manchester City like his friends, instead of the north London side his father supports.

So Paul took matters into his own hands.

The concerned dad printed a letter on official-looking headed paper, telling the child that “Alexis has told me he can’t wait for you to see him play” and to “listen to your daddy when he says Arsenal is the best – he is right!” before faking the two signatures.

It was marked ‘private and confidential’ and presumably presented to the boy.
