Svetlana Medvedeva, wife of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, denied King Felipe VI of Spain a hand kiss as their respective nations met at the World Cup.

Russia won on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the last 16 tie at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, and there was drama in the stands too as the VIPs greeted each other.

Felipe VI attempts to manoeuvre their handshake into a hand kiss, but she’s having none of it and reinforces the shake.

Spain took the lead through Sergei Ignashevich’s own goal, with Artem Dzyuba levelling from the penalty spot after Gerard Piqué’s handball.

Igor Akinfeev then saved from Koke and Iago Aspas in the shoot-out to take the hosts into the quarter-finals.
