The Late Late Show with James Corden played a prank on David Beckham by switching a statue of the former LA Galaxy player with one of their own.

The British presenter discovered Beckham had not yet seen a final preview of the statue the club were set to unveil to fans at half-time in their first game of the season.

A huge replacement was created by the late-night American talk show, with a giant bottom and elongated chin.

A fake film crew accompanied the player to a presentation filled with actors and one in particular sent to wind him up.

He’s called Dave, which it turns out he’s not a fan of, and has his most notable team confused with rivals Man City.

To add credibility, Galaxy president Chris Klein also attends and introduces a video of career highlights which includes a few bloopers too.

“Dave” even seems to be fooled by a fake artist who he’s said to have met previously.

He’s distinctly unimpressed when he sees the finished product and asks for the cameras to be switched off.
