A Sheffield United fan carries the corner flag high above his head as he and a number of fellow supporters stream onto the pitch following the final whistle at Northampton that confirmed their promotion to the Championship on Saturday.

Barely able to contain their excitement while gathering pitch side at Sixfields Stadium, fans of the League One leaders soon spilled onto the field of play in a promotion frenzy after a 1-2 win over Justin Edinburgh’s side.

And none involved in the pitch invasion seemed to be more proud with their achievement than a Sheffield United fan carrying the corner flag aloft amidst the melee.
