Schalke 04 fans slid around and played football in the mud in Piccadilly Gardens ahead of their 7-0 Champions League defeat at Manchester City.
Travelling supporters of the Bundesliga club were clearly in great spirits going into Tuesday’s round of 16 second leg match at the Etihad.
Making the most of the conditions, fans formed a large circle around a muddy patch and took it in turn to lark about in the middle while cheering each other on.
The game itself was not a success as Schalke bowed out of the competition 10-2 on aggregate.
They were 3-0 down by half-time, with Sergio Agüero scoring twice and Leroy Sané adding another for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Second-half goals for Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus sealed a heavy defeat for Domenico Tedesco’s men.
