Deportivo Táchira striker Giancarlo Maldonado cried after scoring a stoppage time equaliser that damaged a rival team managed by his father.
The 36-year-old’s stunning late strike ended any hopes of Liga Venezuela Apertura success for Academia Puerto Cabello, whose manager is his dad Carlos.

Sunday’s match at the Complejo Deportivo Socialista reached a dramatic conclusion when Maldonado levelled the scores from the edge of the box.
This denied Puerto Cabello the win they needed to finish in the top 8 and therefore advance to the knockout stage of the competition.
And it ultimately proved to be a meaningless goal for Deportivo Táchira, although they would have qualified had they managed to score another.
