But the 100m dash at Hamilton Park was ultimately won by last year’s winner Dougie The Doonhamer, a Border Collie representing Queen of the South.
Stenhousemuir’s Wally the Warrior and Celtic’s Hoopy the Huddle Hound took 2nd and 3rd place.

It could all have turned out differently had bookies’ favourite and 2016 champion Cappie the Cat, of Greenock Morton, not dropped out of the race soon before it began.
