Veteran Newport County forward Kevin Ellison prank-called the club physio during the build-up to Sunday’s FA Cup 3rd round match against Brighton.

Describing feverish symptoms, the 41-year-old deliberately gave the impression he’d come down with illness before announcing it as “FA Cup fever”.

Love it!!! Good luck lads

This elicited a foul-mouthed response from physio Tom Gittoes as he realised he’d been tricked by the former Morecambe player.

The game itself ended 1-1 at Rodney Parade, with Premier League side Brighton eventually winning 4-3 in a dramatic penalty shootout.
