Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt had to reform his eating style after a video of him crudely stuffing food into his mouth circulated online.

The clip, apparently filmed by team-mate Juan Cuadrado, shows the Dutch centre-back cramming a meal into his jaws so haphazardly that some of it falls out again.

In a shot at redemption, he filmed a video of himself eating a paella with impeccable manners, handkerchief tucked into his collar to catch any falling morsels.

He looks to the camera and grins with the satisfaction of a job well done, the caption ‘lesson learned’ hammering home the message.
