A frustrated supporter shared a video of his pink Manchester United shirt being burnt, declaring himself “heartbroken” by the lack of new arrivals.

The clip drew a lot of attention on social media as fans blamed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward for the decline of the team since he took over that position.

Man Utd have already splashed the cash on Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace and Harry Maguire from Leicester as well as recruiting Swansea’s Daniel James.

But, while transfer deadline day drew to a close, there was a distinct lack of any news involving Old Trafford and people took to Twitter to complain.

In a short, open letter, the shirt burner said the club were now a “laughing stock” and that he would be “watching the coming season as a neutral”.

He later seemed to be relatively apologetic for his actions.
