Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa ran over to celebrate with striker Patrick Bamford after he scored a spectacular goal in a training session.

Bamford marked his return from a long injury layoff by converting a volley reminiscent of Paolo Di Canio’s memorable strike for West Ham against Wimbledon.

Clearly overjoyed, former Argentina and Chile boss Bielsa then made a beeline for his player and gave him a congratulatory hug.

Former Leeds midfielder Andy Couzens was moved to tweet about Bamford’s training stunner:

2 things I love about this is 1)bamford what a finish and back training 2)beilsa reaction is just brilliant #mot https://t.co/h2zufdiZMs

Bielsa’s Leeds reign got off to a flyer – his side topped the Championship table in its early stages – but they have slipped down to 4th following an inconsistent run of form.

A 4-1 defeat at West Brom last time out was particularly damaging, but they nevertheless remain just three points off leaders Norwich City.

Their next two fixtures are both at home, with Bristol City and Reading set to visit Elland Road before Leeds make the short trip to Sheffield United for next Saturday’s Yorkshire derby.
