Georginio Wijnaldum was left hanging by Memphis Depay when he reached out with a fist bump during Wednesday’s friendly between the Netherlands and Spain.
The two sides drew 1-1 at the Amsterdam ArenA, with Sergio Canales opening the scoring for the visiting Spaniards and Man Utd’s Donny van de Beek levelling.
Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes! I’m truly blessed with all your love and kindness 🙏🏾❤️ It's a big milestone for me today turning 30, I couldn’t be more grateful for my journey and experiences so far. And I’m excited for all the experiences yet to come! 🙌🏾 pic.twitter.com/08enfzWllT

When Lyon star Depay left the fray, Liverpool midfielder Wijnaldum tried to greet his Dutch teammate with the gesture but was left grinning ruefully.
Incidentally, it was Wijnaldum’s 30th birthday, and he started the game to earn his 68th cap for his country.
He has scored 18 goals in those matches.
