Cricket legend Geoffrey Boycott did not hold back from criticising Manchester United’s season as he spoke to MUTV at the club’s Player of the Year event.
Left-back Luke Shaw was named both Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year for the 2018-19 season.
When MUTV requested an interview at the Player of the Year Awards I don’t believe my answers were untrue or unfair. The newspaper headlines are at it again making out I slagged people off. Please listen to the whole interview & not just the comments in certain newspapers… 1/2

But it’s not been a happy campaign for the Red Devils, who have no chance of a top four finish going into the final day of the season.
Speaking to MUTV, Boycott pulled no punches when he was asked what Man Utd means to him right now, answering “disappointment, more than anything”.
… 2/2 I have supported our Club for 55 years & I was delighted to be a guest at the POTY Awards but I won’t lie about this year’s football. I have loved @ManUtd through good and bad times, and will continue to but I don’t look at everything through red coloured spectacles!

He went on to say:
If anything they’ve let themselves down, and the people who support Man Utd, because I think they’re a bit better than that.
It’s not just the results – some of the football has been hard to watch, you know.
The presenter tried his best to restore a note of optimism, pointing to the rebuilding process going forward under Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s stewardship.
This did not have the desired effect as Boycott proceeded to bemoan the Norwegian’s lack of top-level managerial experience.
