VIDEO: Flare on pitch at Fleetwood v Wycombe despite no fans in stadium

Bizarre moment in eventful match.

Even without fans in the ground, a flare made its way onto the pitch to stop the action during the League One play-off semi-final between Fleetwood and Wycombe.

Friday’s behind-closed-doors match at Highbury Stadium was held up when an object billowing pink smoke landed on the field, presumably thrown over the fence from the surrounding park.

The game itself was an eventful encounter, with three goals in the opening six minutes and two red cards for Joey Barton’s Fleetwood side.

Wycombe eventually ran out 4-1 winners to take a commanding lead into Monday’s 2nd leg at Adams Park.

Fleetwood vs Wycombe has been my favourite lockdown game by absolute miles. A goal direct from a corner, 2 red cards, 5 goals, 2 penalties and a flare on the pitch (how is that even possible in a closed doors game?!)

Never change Joey Barton, you absolute mad bastard.
