A feisty derby clash involving Istanbul rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe was halted when a flare was launched into the stadium, even though supporters were prevented from attending due to ongoing coronavirus guidelines.

There were eleven yellow cards in Fenerbahçe’s 0-0 draw at Galatasaray’s Türk Telekom Stadium on Sunday in the early stages of the Turkish Süper Lig season.

In just the 7th minute, the officials became aware of a flare slowly drifting down from the roof of the ground – apparently aided by a small, makeshift parachute.
