VIDEO: First fan let into behind-closed-doors final in Brazil pours water over himself

Ban on supporters entering the Maracanã was lifted 30 minutes after kick-off.

A Vasco da Gama fan poured a bottle of water over himself after being the first into the Maracanã when a court-imposed ban on supporters attending a Guanabara Cup final was lifted 30 mins into the game.

A judge had decided the match against Fluminense would have to be played behind closed doors after neither side could agree on whose supporters would be sitting in the south end of the stadium.

There were chaotic scenes outside the ground in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday after Vasco told fans to turn up despite the ruling.

The club had hoped to resolve the issue on the day and pay any necessary fine, but instead saw running battles with police who were initially forced to prevent people from entering.

Fluminense had stopped selling tickets and advised fans not to attend after the legalities were decided.

Vasco did eventually manage to get the ruling overturned and their supporters were let into the stadium half an hour after kick-off, along with a few Fluminense stragglers.

Não sei se a alegria era porque conseguiu entrar no estádio ou porque conseguiu água? pic.twitter.com/1c5DVkAbrL
