A father showed his son videos of old Benfica matches and pretended they were live to help fill the gap during football’s absence amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In this clip he talks about it to a TV news programme, but the Twitter user posting it here took real issue with the ploy.

His accompanying tweet says:

I am also a father but I would never deceive my son in this way.

He continued:

1- Não insultei ninguém;
2- Como disse, também sou pai, e neste momento também estou em casa com o meu filho. Existem tantas formas de ajudar as crianças a ultrapassar estes momentos de crise.

So many people outraged by my tweet. I want to leave the following notes here:
1- I did not insult anyone;
2- As I said, I am also a father, and at this moment I am also at home with my son. There are so many ways to help children overcome these moments of crisis.
