VIDEO: QPR fan punched in the face by Birmingham supporter at match

Knocks him to the floor and scarpers in ugly clash.

Watch the moment a QPR fan is punched in the face by a Birmingham supporter during the Hoops’ 2-0 win at Loftus Road.

In a match that was also marred by a coin-throwing incident, a home fan appears to approach the travelling Blues faithful, one of whom leapt from the stand to challenge him.

The Birmingham fan punches the QPR fan in the face, knocking him to the ground, before the assailed is dragged away by stewards while his attacker makes himself scarce.

Some of the away supporters cheered at seeing the QPR fan punched in the face, summing up a depressingly ill-tempered affair in the Championship.

Police later confirmed that three men had been arrested, charged respectively with pitch encroachment, racially aggravated assault on an officer and a Public Order offence.

All three men have been bailed pending further enquiries.

The Metropolitan Police released the following statement:

A large number of Birmingham supporters caused a disturbance in Ellerslie Road near to Loftus Road Stadium. Two officers were injured. A number of supporters also sustained injuries and were treated by police medics. We are not aware of anybody receiving hospital treatment.

There was further disorder inside the stadium, including missiles being thrown from the away stand towards home supporters. A QPR player was also struck by a coin thrown from the away stand.
