Callum Paterson jumped two-footed into the goal well after Cardiff’s winner in their 2-1 defeat of Wolves on Friday night had already crossed the line.

Junior Hoilett’s 77th-minute strike in the televised clash at Cardiff City Stadium sparked wild celebrations as Neil Warnock’s side secured their third win of the season.

Had to make sure the ball had crossed the line. #Simples

As the other players ran off to join the goalscorer, 24-year-old Paterson can be seen in the background throwing himself feet first at the ball despite it already nestling in the back of the net.

The home side celebrated their manager’s 70th birthday with three precious Premier League points and climb out of the Premier League relegation zone, moving up to 16th place in the table.
