Benfica’s Gabriel opened a bottle of champagne in goalkeeper Odisseas Vlachodimos’s face during title celebrations at the Estádio da Luz on Saturday.
The Brazilian midfielder was fiddling around with the cork when Greece international Vlachodimos approached him offering to lend a helping hand.
But this coincided with Gabriel successfully uncorking the bottle, sending its contents cascading into his teammate’s face.
Before he got sprayed, Vlachodimos was part of the Benfica side that clinched the Portuguese Primeira Liga title with a 4-1 win over Santa Clara.
Gabriel was not part of the matchday squad on the day, although he did make seventeen appearances over the course of the season.
The title race went right down to the final day of the campaign, with Benfica finishing two points ahead of Porto.
