Arsenal players Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin were left red-faced after throwing their shirts into the crowd at the end of normal time, before being forced to retrieve them before the start of extra time.

The Gunners battled back after being 4-0 down to Reading in the Capital One Cup and managed to force the game into extra time when jubilant Giroud and Coquelin celebrated by tossing their jerseys to the fans.

After being informed they would have to play on, the players were instructed to beg the fans for their shirts back.

Luckily the garments were returned by supporters keen to see more goals in the historic fightback that Arsenal eventually went on to win 5-7.
