Romanian team ‘sack’ manager as April Fools’ joke, he takes it seriously and leaves

Prank backfires.

This is absolutely brilliant. Industria Galda de Jos (3rd tier) asked a local website to help them with an April Fools' joke for their manager. Galda wanted an article saying coach Fogorosi was sacked after 3 defeats in his 3 games in charge. The man took it seriously and left.. pic.twitter.com/fSADns1W12

Romanian side Industria Galda de Jos announced the sacking of their manager as an April Fools’ Day joke, only for him to take it seriously and leave.

The Liga III club colluded with the website alba-sport.ro to place an article announcing the dismissal of Ștefan Fogoroși.

…his job with immediate effect after reading the article. He didn't go to training today and will not be on the team's bench tomorrow vs Cugir.
Romanian football is AMAZING.

Quoting their president Ovidiu Hulea, it said:

I want to thank Stefan for accepting this challenge.

I knew right away that our chances of avoiding relegation are close to zero, but after three games in which we didn’t score any points, I think it’s better for the world to shake hands and each one to go his own way.

The team will be taken care of by me, my son Adi ‘Raba’ from Micești and Ghita Mărginean from Cergău. Let’s see what we get out of it.

Even after learning it wasn’t real, Fogorosi was sufficiently displeased to miss the next training session.

He will apparently not be in the dugout for Saturday’s trip to Metalurgistul Cugir.
