New boy Chris Wood plundered a first half hattrick as Leicester City ran out 4-0 winners at Bristol City on Saturday, their day completed by defeats to Championship promotion rivals Middlesbrough, Hull City and Crystal Palace, not to mention a disappointing home draw for league leaders Cardiff City. Football Burp visited the forums Foxes Talk and Talking Balls to see what the King Power faithful had to say about Nigel Pearson’s upwardly mobile side and their chances of securing Premier League football next season…
Wood, Could…Should?

Not just Wood though, we have been creating chances for ages but only really had Nuge up front with any plus other supported by Knocky and Dyer.
Now we have Wood and Nuge who work well together and Marshall with Knocky.
Watching them against Huddersfield you could see how dangerous our front line now is.
I think teams will now have to press us rather than sit back so things should get interesting.
Shame we can’t buy Keane.

Convincing result, and at last showing some form on the road. There are some vital games coming up, and with the recent results the team should be much more confident facing them.
Getting interesting.

We have been creating chances all season but couldn’t rely on just one goalscorer in Nugent to finish them all.
Now Wood’s here in the form of his life and he’s slotted in perfectly to the team.
Dream situation for him, the club and us as fans. New hero already, we need a good song for him!!

Absolutely cracking set of results today. Seems they all went for us.
Very good and professional performance against an absolutely woeful Bristol City side and a hilariously poor goalkeeper in Gerken. Thought Konchesky was superb and the best I’ve seen him play this season. James, De Laet and Keane all impressed again and kept up their good form. Thought Marshall played well and Knockaert looked really good before he came off, though Dyer was shocking when he came on.
As for that fella from New Zealand up front, well, he’s decent too I guess.

I’m a big Andy King fan but pleased to see Matt James coming good and forcing a bit of competition in midfield.
If only Ben Marshall could find his spark again.

I think the signing of Chris Wood also pays testament to our transfer policy under Pearson. He will likely have had other suitors. But we made our interest known quickly and secretly and paid a fair price upfront without trying to rip West Brom off and risk getting into a bidding war.

I feel silly typing this, but I didn’t think we played very well today! They were truly, truly awful and I am not surprised to see their manager get sacked. Regardless, it’s the result that’s important and it has been a fantastic day. If very, very cold!
Player comments for what it’s worth:
Kasper – Did what he had to do just fine.
RDL – Energetic performance, defended well and was always an option going forward.
Wes – Rock.
Keano – Think he has shown a lot of composure in his recent performances – got done for pace too much for my liking today.
Konchesky – Very mature, competent display. Didn’t put a foot wrong.
Knockers – Looked classy for the part of the game he played, and has really added some defensive work to his game.
Jamo – Ran the game in the first half. Disappeared after he scored and allowed them too much time.
Drinkwater – Ran the game in the first half. Disappeared in the second and allowed them too much time.
Marshall – Didn’t do anything particularly badly, but not a lot positive either.
Nugent – Quiet game, but very willing to link the play.
Wood – Three goals and looks a real presence up front. Super stuff.
Lloyd – I’m in a minority being a fan of Lloyd, but he was crap today.
Waggy – Good energy. A nice option to bring off the bench.
Gally – Seems a much more mature player, but still needs to improve defensive aspects of his game.
