Trading Standards are investigating the £90m transfer of Paul Pogba to Man Utd after receiving reports that the midfielder had been billed as “world class”.

The institute are concerned that the fraudulent description could lead to many more millions being frittered away if clubs continue to be so careless.

Pogba’s unremarkable season at Old Trafford has sparked a flurry of accounts from supporters who claim to have watched him play and that he is “upper-mid-table-class at best”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, a spokesperson for Trading Standards warned the public to be vigilant.

They said: “If someone offers you a £90m midfielder and tells you they’re world class, please get online immediately and file a report to our office.

“We’ve seized the Pogba from Manchester United and we won’t be returning him until we’ve seen him back-heel a hundred 40-yard free kicks in off the crossbar.”
