The England starlet courted controversy in October when he asked to be left out of England’s Euro 2016 qualifying win in Estonia, citing the draining effects of an all-night Game of Thrones marathon.

And now he is sure to attract the scorn of the Anfield faithful having effectively ruled himself out of the next 15 seasons’ worth of football at the club, citing the draining effects of doing Steven Gerrard’s running, Mario Balotelli’s ironing and Brendan Rodgers’s filing.

Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Raheem Sterling explained that he was “basically done” with football bar the occasional appearance as a 75th minute substitute for Jesús Navas.

He said: “Can’t. Finish. Interview.
