Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has lodged an appeal to rescind the collective decision to constantly crack wise about him appealing stuff.

The running joke reached breaking point last night as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah scooped the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award, whereupon social media was presumably rife with copycat witticisms.

And Spurs star Kane, already in a foul mood following his side’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Man Utd, confirmed he’s pursuing official channels to have the gag overturned.

He told Football Burp: “It’s really hurting my feelings.

“People don’t realise how thin-skinned I am – a ball can brush off my shoulder and nestle in the net, no problem, but a running joke at my expense is much harder to brush off.

“I’ve lodged an official complaint to the FA and hopefully by the end of the week they’ll have it changed to widespread mirth about Raheem Sterling’s running style or something.”
