Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck is almost ready to move on to his next injury, with Arsène Wenger pencilling him in for a return to training next week.

Gunners ace Welbeck has not played since May when he suffered Achilles tendon cheese string damage all over his body during a 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

The 26-year-old had been expected back in training around the turn of the year in 2018/19, but Wenger now expects him to return imminently before promptly succumbing to another protracted lay-off.

He said: “I am delighted to announce that Danny will soon be joining us for a few sessions in between ailments.

“With any luck, we should be able to play him in the 3rd round of the FA Cup and then have him sidelined for the rest of this season and next.

“With Aaron Ramsey also nearing fitness and Jack Wilshere on loan at Bournemouth, the treatment room has been a lonely place for our physio team.

“But Danny’s assured them he’ll be back with them soon, more injured than ever and raring to go on his latest rehabilitation.

“We’re all very excited to see what he breaks, fractures, strains or shatters next.”
