Last week we brought you “Sturridge Dance”, the new track from JMC honouring Liverpool and England forward Daniel, and we got wondering: which other dancing footballers of note could we package it alongside?
We shan’t go back as far as Roger Milla, so let’s kick off our recent history of dancing footballers with this fan-made video for “Sturridge Dance”…
Sturridge isn’t the only current England player to boast some ‘moves’. Check out this old video of goalkeeper Joe Hart strutting his stuff, apparently for the dubious benefit of teammate Micah Richards…
At the end of that clip, co-presenter Helen Chamberlain notes that someone was bound to roll it back out once Hart was England’s first-choice ‘keeper at a World Cup. Very prescient, Helen.

“Antenna” was a hit for Ghanaian artist Fuse ODG, whose preceding single “Azonto” referenced a dance which is popular with, amongst others, Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor and former Sunderland forward Asamoah Gyan…
All of which brings us to last year’s outbreak of “Harlem Shake” videos, of which we present you with the following:
- The Manchester City Harlem Shake
- The Fulham Harlem Shake
- The obscene Derry City Harlem Shake
- And our personal favourite, the Crystal Palace Cheerleaders Harlem Shake
By now you’ll either be shaking along or shaking your head, so we’ll just leave you to that.
HAVE YOUR SAY: Which dancing footballers did we forget to include in our recent history?
