These were the best Shane Duffy own goals jokes as the Blackburn Rovers centre-back made it three in two games.
On Saturday the Ireland international rounded off a 3-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic with an own-goal in the 63rd minute.
He followed this with two more inside the first twenty minutes of last night’s 2-1 defeat at Cardiff and was later sent off in stoppage time.
Incredibly, this means he managed to score a hat-trick of own goals in just 47 minutes of football.
Duffy also rejected the offer of a new contract yesterday, but this now seems something of a sideshow.
Needless to say, the Shane Duffy own goals jokes were flying:

If Cardiff get a penalty will they let Shane Duffy take it for his hattrick?

You've got to hand it to Shane Duffy, a very novel way of handing in a transfer request…

Shane Duffy. Rejects a new contact, deletes his Twitter account, scores two own goals in four days. The gift that keeps on giving.

I've despised Shane Duffy since he offered me out at Scunthorpe 5 years ago, shame he binned 2 oggys and got himself sent off #baddickhead
