Although José Mourinho claims the Argentine made the most of the incident, the Belgian can only have himself to blame for giving the referee little option but to show a straight red.
Given that it came just thirty seconds after he’d been booked, there’s even less room for sympathy.
Fellaini had just been reestablishing himself in Mourinho’s starting XI, so the impending three-match ban is ill-timed to say the least.
