READY? Rashford (Image: Mantashyan)

These were the best jokes as Marcus Rashford scored on his England debut, the Man Utd teenager grabbing his first senior international goal in a 2-1 Euro 2016 warm-up win against Australia.

Having previously scored with his first touch of the ball in the Europa League and Premier League, Rashford completed a remarkable hat-trick with his third-minute strike.

As well as becoming England’s youngest ever debut goal-scorer, he may well have leapfrogged Daniel Sturridge in Roy Hodgson’s pecking order with the Liverpool striker having suffered yet another injury setback.

Needless to say, there were one or two jokes flying about social media as Rashford scored on his England debut:

Marcus Rashford is Danny Welbeck but with more pace, skill, vision, ability to pick a pass, composure, heading, shooting and scoring.

Don't want to jinx it. But I'm pretty sure Marcus Rashford is going to be the greatest striker in the history of football.

I met Marcus Rashford once. I told him he has the ability to be great. In theory he owes it all to me.

Obviously Rashford had to come off, it's getting close to his bed time in fairness. Good to see Roy looking after the young kids.

Just congratulated Marcus Rashford on his debut goal. I said well done Marcus, are you pleased? He said yeah. I said I thought you would be.
